Dr. Yolanda N. George-David, lovingly known as Aunt Landa, is a humanitarian and visionary leader whose work has brought hope and change to thousands across the nation. As the founder of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, she has dedicated her life to the advocacy, rehabilitation, and empowerment of survivors of sexual abuse, human trafficking, and gender-based violence. Through her tireless efforts, she has become a beacon of support for vulnerable communities, giving voice to those often silenced by their circumstances.

Her journey began with a dream: to change the world. Today, that dream lives on through the lives she touches daily. In 2012, she founded Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, a bold step toward systemic change. Since its inception, the foundation has directly impacted over 25,000 survivors annually, providing essential services such as medical care, counseling, legal representation, and vocational training. With centers across Nigeria, Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation ensures that survivors have access to the resources they need to heal and rebuild their lives. At the heart of its mission is a commitment not just to rescue, but to walk alongside survivors on their journey of restoration.

“The work we do is all about the journey, not just the rescue.”

Among the foundation’s most notable programs is the Aunt Landa Free Tertiary Academy, which offers survivors and underprivileged youth educational opportunities to reclaim their futures. Another key initiative is the Aunt Landa Free Market Square, where survivors of sexual and gender-based violence and the most vulnerable receive essential goods like food, clothing, and empowerment items free of charge.

But her vision doesn’t stop there. To address deeper and often hidden traumas, Dr. George-David established initiatives such as Aunt Landa’s Free Village, a shelter for survivors of sexual and gender-based violence; Aunt Landa’s Prostitute Rehabilitation Clinic; Aunt Landa’s Suicide Watch, and Aunt Landa’s “NO 2 Abortion” Program, among others. These initiatives provide critical support in areas of rehabilitation, education, healthcare, and mental health. Her work has helped countless individuals overcome adversity, rebuild their lives, and become contributing members of their communities.

The Aunt Landa’s food bank, also called the Aunt Landa’s Jesus Kitchen, is a compassionate outreach program designed to provide nourishment and dignity to abuse survivors and widows. During the COVID-19 lockdown, as hunger spread as fast as the virus, Aunt Landa expanded her mission with the “Dial a Meal”, a food aid initiative integrated with her radio show, enabling the less privileged to request food aid via phone and have it delivered to their doors.

In addition to her humanitarian efforts, Dr. George-David is a prolific public speaker and radio host. Her radio show, “Being Real with Aunt Landa,” has aired for more than a decade and has become a trusted voice for those living in silence. It engages and educates a wide audience on critical issues such as sexual abuse, human trafficking, baby factories, child rights, and gender-based violence. Through this platform, she has directly contributed to the rescue and rehabilitation of thousands of women and children, using her voice to amplify the struggles of marginalized groups. Her advocacy continues to inspire change not only in Nigeria but also in other regions across the world.

A passionate advocate for justice, Dr. George-David is a visionary leader with a heart devoted to uplifting the most vulnerable. Beyond her professional and humanitarian pursuits, she is a devoted wife, mother, and mentor to many, and she continues to balance her extensive work with a deep commitment to her family and community.

“Every child deserves a safe space to grow and thrive.”

Dr. George-David’s journey, from a teenager helping those in need to an internationally recognized humanitarian, is a powerful testament to the transformative impact of love and compassion. Whether it’s offering food to 500 people or providing a safe haven for an abuse survivor, Aunt Landa has made it her life’s mission to show others how much they are loved without needing to say a word.
