Munawar Sultana has dedicated over 28 years to serving the displaced and vulnerable communities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. This region has experienced a steady flow of refugees fleeing life-threatening natural disasters and decades-long armed conflict in neighboring Afghanistan.

As a health service officer with the International Rescue Committee (IRC), she currently holds the position of Counseling and Quality Assurance Manager. Munawar’s work focuses on overseeing essential primary health care and reproductive health services, providing critical support to beneficiaries free of charge.

Munawar Sultana’s unwavering commitment has significantly contributed to creating a safer environment for women and children and fostering a healthier community overall. In recognition of her exceptional service, Munawar was honored with the 2016 Sarlo Award for Distinguished Humanitarian Service by The Sarlo Foundation.
