Yirley Judith Velazco Garrido is an activist residing in Bolívar Department, Colombia and helping victims of sexual abuse.

As the president and co-founder of Women Sowing Life Association, she works tirelessly to support victims of sexual abuse. At age 14, Velazco was brutally assaulted by paramilitary fighters during the invasion of El Salado, an ordeal she kept secret for many years. After revealing her story, she and her family faced relentless death threats.

In response to her activism and the threats she received, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights mandated the Colombian government to provide her with protective measures, including bodyguards and a bulletproof vehicle. Despite ongoing threats, Velazco remains dedicated to advocating for and empowering women survivors, embodying endurance, strength, and leadership.
